I honestly can't remember the last time I saw a member of the [any] alliance in AB (Luxon Side) they are mostly MQSC, its the only way to get that high faction, I also guess a good amount of them do JQ for faction too, in such a heavily faction orientated environment I doubt there is time for AB.

Also I havn't seen them recruiting in AB since the Luxon/Kurz faction revamp.

I realized today that it's probably all my fault.

I've spent the last few months carefully tutoring Luxons, pinging monks several builds, spending an hour with every wammo converting him to the ways of skill, directing noob sins to the the "palm strike" page on pvxwiki.

On the other side, whenever I see a Kurzick do anything remotely skilled I completely kick his ass. Warror's endurance or shock axe both end up knocklocked, monks get spiked, I taunt them in local, then I'm extra nice to Kurzicks who suck.

I've consciously made cute monks ragequit by ganking them repeatedly.

I take full responsibility for the resulting game imbalance.

I ab casually and I honestly haven't ever seen a trend towards one side or the other winning the majority of the time. Sometimes one side will win a lot in a row for a brief period or something but that's about it.

Though most of the times I play I don't really even care about winning or losing so maybe I'm just not paying enough attention, I dunno.

Best accomplished by chasing them around the map with a 16 tactics double riposte build, 12 second bonettis and hamstring.

Then make sure to call them a pussy in local.

I've never played AB on the Luxon side, but 95% of my Kurzick pug teams just invite every single player in sight and then enter the battle without any sort of balanced team, or even having people ping skills.

Then no one even acts surprised when W/E's break out obs flesh or meteor shower without packing a snare, or when your Me/R is constantly reviving his level 5 pet bear.

Actually thats incorrect, the people you see in ab tend to be the people who are out to have fun. 'Fun' gets between [any] and their faction grinding so it has to be thrown out of their overall picture.

And after playing on both the luxon and kurzick sides, the reason I find the luxons to play better is because most of them will play in guild groups, while since the kurzicks have many more people on their sides, the vast majority of them aren't in guilds that do team ab often so they join pugs. 2 guild groups/1 pug > 3 pugs in almost any situation.

Lol luxons have more time to practice because they don't wait 10 minutes per match . Nah. when you progress through factions you easily roll into the kurzick side, hence more new players are Kurzick. OP has a point, I switched alliance because I like AB too much to keep playing with utter failtards.

that and monks in AB are overrated, they can work, but I never PUG them because when they suck 1/4 of your party is dead weight doing no damage.

No, I really can't stand the "monks aren't needed in AB" attitude.

Having a healer gives your team a huge amount of freedom to pressure opposition, without one you're constantly scanning the horizon and trying to get in as light combat as possible.

To tell whether someone's useful, look at subtle build differences - for example, if a monk has shield of absorption instead of guardian he's very likely to be terrible. One completely useless skill on the bar usually means someone sucks, and you can often tell someone's skill level by slight clues from their build.

Also the Luxon side has a faily large base of regular players who recognize each other, often they'll team up and it's like a guild group except it's a Luxon ab group.

I like good skirmish templates that can split, and 4 damage dealers can roll over a team with a monk when they play well. When a team is too strong you don't have to flee, you can try to split them, you can jump them when they try to cap, you can take an npc along and be 5 damage dealers.

Lol a team without a monk but WITH snares, stances, interrupts, self cleanup and hex/condition/enchant removal can stay alive pretty well.
An interrupter mitigates as much damage as a monk with ease.

While I agree that a monk isn't essential, it sure helps. It lets you free up spaces on your bar that would otherwise just be self heals.

That being said I often run without a monk, mostly in guild teams tho, if you want to do this make sure you bring an ice ele, they instantly nullify any sort of melee, then a shutdown mes for casters and well, 2 heavy damage dealers like spike sin or war and you have a pretty solid team that can kill anything before it can kill you. So long as your team knows how to kite, not dying shouldn't be a problem.

I also avoid monks in PUGs, they tend to think they're gods gift to AB groups, because most groups seem so desperate for monks. This is also why they don't have much incentive to get better because your average pug team will already be satisfied with the fact that there is a monk present to begin with. And to top that off, when things go bad, it's considered poor sportsmanship to blame the monk.

I'd much rather have a poor nuker or unproven assassin than a poor monk on my team.

Anyway, kurzick is more populated, so the changes that you get a team of 3 partys of bad people is little more common as on luxon side with less people overall.

Though, i don't AB anymore. JQ gives way more faction and balth for zkeys than AB will ever give (1-3 games per zkey along with around 10-15k faction). Ofcourse it depends how much capping is going on, in games where all the points get decapped within 1 min by the opposite faction, you'll get a lot of faction/balth. Then there are games where other side dominates the game and you don't see +xp +faction +balth's on your screen that much.

Which is why you ask the monk to ping. Even if he isn't great, he'll still keep you alive under at least moderate pressure and half your team won't wipe to shrines.

If you don't fully trust your party, don't go headon 4v4 with guild groups.

Asking people too ping really doesn't make them any better or worse as a player, i'm actually amazed people still do this, just cause someone can run the bar doesn't mean they can play the build, and no a bad monk won't hold you up for long, if they are bad you will die fast.

True. But it's the best indicator you're ever going to get. When your nuker turns out to be a dual-attune flare spammer, you'll wish you'd asked.
